I was born.
I was loved, cared for.
I was taught how to speak, to walk, to eat.
I was shown how to socialize, how to make friends.
I was engaged in classes, activities and games.

But I created my perception of the world, and the rules with which I live it.


Many people are obsessed with pop culture, or live their lives on facebook.
Yes, inhabiting the Western World, one would be exposed to MySpace and MSN, but there are limits to everything.
Or at least there should be.
Many of my classmates live a virtual life.
They are concerned with how many friends they have on facebook.
Because now, facebook dictates one’s popularity.

They are distressed when their Internet shuts down, what if their crush comes online.
Because otherwise, how are they supposed to converse?

They know more about Britney Spears or Justin Timberlake than they do about their heritage.
What is heritage anyways, when you’re living online?

We speak. Ell oh ell. Er oh eff ell. Are they from Mars?
Because I thought that Martians would be intelligent.

The conformity of Western life is pathetic. But there are those that oppose it. Those that stand up to it.
The real computer geeks don’t use 1337 speak. The real engineering don’t rely on the Internet, on society.
They engineer their own life and their own rules to life.
One is to live. Live in the real world.
Another is to be unique. Numbers aren’t unique.
Many more can be MADE UP.
Because if they are dictated, they’re not yours, they are of those controlling you.
Those of Mark and Tom, the creators of Facebook and MySpace.

I don’t oppose their ideas, but I oppose how people use them.
I have Facebook, but I live in the real world.
